Tivoli Gardens is a famous amusement park in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park opened on August 15, 1843 and includes a variety of attractions such as oriental style buildings, a theatre, band stands, restaurants and cafés, flower gardens, amusement rides and a primitive scenic railway. Today, Tivoli is in the very center of Copenhagen, and is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world that has survived intact.

Helmut Zobl was born in 1941 in Schwarzach St. Veit, Salzburg and received
training at the School for Metal Crafts in Steyr. From 1960 to 1965, he
completed a study at the Viennese Academy of the Sculpting arts under
Professor Ferdinand Welz. He taught there from 1967-1970. He was
awarded the honorary title of Professor in 1999. Since 1970 he has been a
freelance medallists, sculptor, painter and professional artist in Vienna.
Helmut Zobl, starting in 1968 participated in world exhibitions of the
international medal federation (FIDEM) as well as many art fairs in Europe.
The Tivoli medals were issued by Anders Nyborg A/S in Copenhagen during the
1970´s and early 80´s. The 1976 medal was designed by the Austrian artist
Helmut Zobl. The 1978 medal was designed by Jean Philippe Roch and the
Finnish artist Kauko Räsänen also designed a Tivoli medal one year, but I don't
know which year. This series of medals was issued solely for their beauty as art
medals.

limited edition and is marked as
#116. The diameter is 40mm; it is
3mm thick and weighs 33g
The obverse design is stylistically
reminiscent of the Austrian 1980
20-Schilling coin also designed by
Helmut Zobl.
He has participated in exhibits in Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Hall in Tyrol, Basel,
Düsseldorf, Paris, Copenhagen, Udine, Rome, Budapest....
He is a member of the Vienna Seccession and has been since 1971. In 1994 he received first
place for medal art at the international exhibition in Kremnica. The Muenzkabinett in Dresden has
a number of his works.
In 2001 he completed his 1100th piece.
