Austrian Engravers
If you have ANY literature with any information (no matter how small that amount is) about
any Austrian Engraver (even ones not listed here); I would love a copy or a scan of that
portion.
(email)

This list is alphabetical, FAR from complete, and the information presented is tentative.  The dates
after the names are the earliest and the latest dated coin, medal, plaque, plaquette, jetton or token
(not necessarily made by the Austrian National Mint) that I have seen by that person unless the
date is explained otherwise.

Most but certainly not all of the Artist, Sculptors, Engravers, or Medalists (weather Austrian or
other) that I have listed on this site, at one time or the other, have worked for the Austrian Mint or
designed one or more coins, medals or tokens for them or at least created an Austrian themed
medal.

The Austrian Mint in Vienna still mints several of their older medals and plaques that may be
encountered at auction.  There are at least 11 that I know of that are still being minted.  They are:

1.   Plaque of Beethoven by Arnold Hartig (48.50 Euro)
2.   Medal of Joseph Haydn 40 mm by Arnold Hartig (20 Euro)
3.   Medal of Joseph Haydn 75 mm by Arnold Hartig (40 Euro)
4.   Medal of W.A. Mozart 40 mm by Arnold Hartig (20 Euro)
5.   Medal of Franz Schubert 40 mm by Arnold Hartig (20 Euro)
6.   Plaque of Kaiserin Elisabeth (29 Euro)
7.   Medal of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth (35 Euro)
8.   Medal of k.u.k. Kriegsmarine Flottenvereinsmedaille (35 Euro)
9.   Medal of Admiral Tegetthoff by Josef Tautenhayn (39 euro)
10. Medal of Conrad von Hötzendorf by Arnold Hartig (38 Euro)
11. Medal of Kaiser Franz Joseph (48.50 Euro)

The mint also mints newer medals but the above could easily be mistaken as original medals.  To
the best of my knowledge, there is no way to tell the difference.
http://www.artmedal.net  If you have an interest in International Art-Medals then this
non-commercial website is an excellent site to wander through and admire the images.  It contains
images of quite a few medals and plaques by Austrian Artist as well as examples from many other
European countries (not many from the USA).
