| Austrian 500 Schilling Coins |
| The 500 Schilling Coins that were struck for circulation 1980-1988 (34 examples), are large Silver Coins and exhibit many interesting designs. For all practical purposes though they didn't circulate. There also have been many non-circulating 500 Schilling Commemoratives issued. The 500 Schilling coin can still be redeemed for somewhere between $45-$55 US and that makes them a little expensive to collect on my coin budget (I have a lot of other coin interests to support). The 1980-1982 500 Schilling coins are .640 Silver, weigh 24g and are 38mm in diameter.
