1942 Degussa, Zinc, 40mm
1943 Degussa, Zinc, 40mm
There was also a Degussa medal minted in 1951(Bronze), and possibly other years.
Each has it's own unique design usually with a standard reverse.
DEGUSSA's original name was the Roessler company. DEGUSSA is the acronym for,
"Deutsche Gold und Silber Scheideanstalt". Scheideanstalt is a German word similar
to the English word "refinery" and simply means a company which separates metals
(gold and silver etc.) from other metals and ores.
1942 Sparcasse
1943 no info
Celebrating the creation of the
first Sparcasse (a type of Bank)
1949 Bernhard Altmann, Silver plated, 40mm
Bernhard Altmann was a major name in the garment industry and was
famous for quality cashmere sweaters. He had business interest in
Vienna Austria, Bradford England and New York in the US.
In 1938 Germany annexed Austria into the Third Reich. Fritz, Bernhard's
brother, was arrested and sent to Dachau (Death camp) as a hostage to
force Bernhard, who had escaped to France, to sign over his foreign
business accounts to the Nazis. Bernhard and Fritz both survived the
war.
1965 SV (no info)
1952 University of Innsbruck,
Silver plated, 40mm
There were also University of Innsbruck calendar
medals minted for 1950-1952, 1954-1961, 1963,
1965-1968 and many other years too I am sure.
However I either own or have seen the medals for
those years. Many have a similar front (Coat of
Arms of the University of Innsbruck; designed by
Josef Köblinger) and usually with a standard type
reverse.
1973 (no info)
I have seen many others but don't have images. If you have a nice image of a custom designed Austrian
calendar medal, I would love to display it here.
